Two More Take Millrose SpotsPublished by
by Brett Hoover — posted on 12/30/2011 Mountain Lakes' Stephen Lewandowski used a strong kick and North Shore's Brianna Nerud was simply dominating as the two earned berths into the Millrose Games High School Miles at the North Shore Invitational at The Armory on Friday afternoon. Those two will join the Bishop Loughlin Games champions — Benjamin Cardozo's Alexis Panisse and St. Benedict's Edward Cheserek — in the 12-person fields. Lewandowski — who ran a 60-second final quarter — pulled away on the bell lap to win in 4:16.66. Nerud — the reigning AT&T Athlete of the Week at The Armory — ran from the front the whole route. She had Pennsbury's Sara Sargent on her heels for much of the race, but opened a wide gap over the final two laps to win in 4:58.45, more than seven seconds ahead of Sargent. Additional standout performances today came from North Shore's Samantha Nadel (9:46 in 3k) and Sachem East's Rachel Paul (2:53 in 1k).
