ATandT Athletes of the Week, Vol. 4Published by
posted on 12/29/2011 The AT&T Armory Athletes of the Week have been announced and this week's winners come from the Marine Corps Holiday Classic held Tuesday. The girls' awardee is actually a repeat winner already. North Shore's Brianna Nerud had claimed the award as part of a national record-setting 4x1500m relay at the Jim Mitchell Invitational before the holidays and now she wins it individually with two terrific splits on Tuesday. She opened with a 3:31.9 1200m leg in the DMR as North Shore ran 11:43.23 (the sixth-best in U.S. history) and then added a 2:11.5 leg in the 4x800m relay as the Shore won in 9:19.52 (25 seconds ahead of any competitors). The boys' winner is certainly well-known at The Armory. Strymar Livingston of Christopher Columbus High had to pull out of the Bishop Loughlin Games because of illness, but has clearly bounced back by winning the individual 800-meter run in 1:52.94 — ahead of previous award winner Robert Rhodes of Boys & Girls (1:53.91). The AT&T Athletes of the week will be awarded by the Armory each week for the entire season.
