The Marine Corps Holiday Classic has become a fantastic way to celebrate the week between Christmas and the New Year. High school teams from around the East Coast come to the Armory for a memorable and festive relay showcase.

Central Bucks East wins the first section of freshmen girls' 4x800m relay in a meet record 10:18.47. Northport is second in 10:30.48. Warwick Valley and Cardinal O'Hara are third and fourth.

South Manor was the winner of the second section of the freshmen girls' 4x800m relay in 11:44.73, less than a second before Northport (11:45.34). Now the freshmen boys' are on the track.

And the freshmen boys' 4x800m champion at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic is Chaminade with a meet-record time of 8:44.84. Shenendehowa (9:20.86) and Warwick Valley (9:22.79) were second and third.

The girls' shuttle hurdle relay winner comes from Uniondale, which clocked a winning effort of 33.38. Kellenberg was second in 33.99 followed by Swenson of Philadelphia.

The sophomore girls' 4x800m relay was a close battle with Columbia of New Jersey (10:21.50) beating Connetquot (10:22.16) and Smithtown East (10:23.06). South Manor won the second section in 10:55.06.

The boys' foursome of Stephen Adkisson, Chase Toliver, Syid Evans-White and Aaron Wilson have taken Oakcrest to the title of the shuttle hurdles relay in 30.50. Uniondale (31.01) was second andWallkill a close third (31.04).

Uniondale won the freshman girls' 4x200-meter relay in an impressive 1:52.41, more than five seconds ahead of No. 2 Essex VoTech (1:57.56).

Wallkill and Warwick Valley were clearly the top teams in the sophomore boys' 4x200-meter relay with Wallkill winning in 1:38.79, .04 ahead of Warwick. No other teams were within three seconds.

Rush-Henrietta was the champion of the Marine Corps Classic distance medley relay, finishing in 10:20.54. Rush was followed by Warwick Valley (10:24.97), Monsignor Farrell (10:30.43) andChristian Brothers Academy of New Jersey (10:31.65).

The girls' distance medley championship was won by North Shore in 11:43.23, the sixth-best U.S. high school time ever. Walter Murphy's splits were: Brianna Nerud (3:31.9), Lea Farrell (64.1), Elizabeth Caldwell (2:20.0) and Samantha Nadel (4:47.2). Lenape was a distant second in 12:13.54.

Christopher Columbus' Strymar Livingston has won the individual 800-meter run with the time of 1:52.94, ahead of Robert Rhodes of Boys & Girls (1:53.91).

In the women's 800m invitational, Garden CIty's Emma Gallagher tracked down St. Anthony'sOlicia Williams in the final stretch to win, 2:21.04 to 2:22.02.

Just got word that Long Island's North Shore is coming back in the girls' 4x8 with Brianna Nerud, Samantha Nadel, Elizabeth Caldwell and Jessica Donahue. That will be worth watching!

The non-championship girls' distance medley had gone to Connetquot, which won by .01 overNorthport, 13:07.98 to 13:07.99. The boys' race went to St. Anthony's (10:43.99) over St. John the Baptist (10:48.01).

For the freshmen in the 4x400m relays, it was Essex VoTech (4:31.33) winning by a reasonable margin over Warwick Valley (4:34.78) on the girls' side while the boys saw Fordham Prep(3:52.07) outrun Norristown (3:53.72) and Chaminade (3:54.64).

North Shore doubles back with a 9:19.52 meet record in the 4x800m relay. The team was anchored by Brianna Nerud (pictured above) who split 2:11.5. Lenape was second, about 25 seconds behind.

Brooklyn's Boys & Girls edged out N.J.'s Christian Brothers Academy for the win in the 4x800 boys' championship, breaking the meet record in the process with a 7:56.26 winning time. CBA finished in 7:56.53.

The sophomore 4x400s provided some division as Warwick Valley was an easy winner on the boys' side, posting a time of 3:44.51. Second-place Pine Bush finished in 3:52.15. On the girls' side, two teams — Hunterdon (4:19.23) and Newburgh (4:21.96) — were well in front of the pack.

St. John Villa won the girls' sprint medley relay with a time of 4:11.68, ahead of Columbia of New Jersey's (4:13.77). No other team ran under 4:18. Union Catholic was the boys' champion of the sprint medley, turning in a time of 3:32.48. Colonie was nearly three seconds back, but three seconds ahead of third place.

Philadelphia's Swenson Arts was a definitive winner of the girls' 4x400m relay, finishing in 3:52.95. The only other team to run under four minutes was also from Philadelphia, as Penn Wood was second in 3:59.76.

The Marine Corps Holiday Classic ends with Boys & Girls of Brooklyn claiming boys' 4x4 supremacy by defeating Penn Wood of Philly. B&G finished in 3:21.76 to Penn Wood's 3:21.84.Oakcrest was third in 3:23.05.
