Marine Corps Holiday Classic Welcomes East Coast’s Premier Track & Field Athletes

The Armory Foundation welcomes 160 high school teams and 3,000 athletes to compete in the Marine Corps Holiday Classic on Thursday, December 29 at The Armory’s New Balance Track & Field Center. Teams will be representing New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

Top female student-athletes:

 - Sammy Watson, Rush Henrietta Senior (NY): 2016 Olympic Trials contestant at 800 meters. Running the 800 and 300 meters.

 - Lanae-Tava Thomas, Rush Henrietta Senior (NY): Member of 2015 national record sprint medley relay. Running the 55 and 300 meters.

 - Rachel McArthur, Patriot HS (VA): 4:45 miler with five career sub 4:50 performances

 - Jessica Slagus, North Pocono (PA): Meet record holder in Weight Throw. She will defend title along with her brother.

 - Kiana Stallworth, New Rochelle: Career 18-9 long jumper.

 - Top sprint relay teams: Western Branch (NC), Norristown (PA), Bullis (MD), Paul Robeson (NY).

Top male student-athletes:

 - Dalton Hengst, Mcdonough (MD): 4:10 miler and 2016 NYRR Millrose Games mile qualifier. Defending champion.

 - Malachi Davis, Mt Pleasant (DE): Career 23 foot long jumper and 49 foot triple jumper.

 - Matt Slagus, North Pocono (PA): Meet record holder in Weight Throw. Will defend title along with his sister.

 - Dennis Manyeah, Penn Wood (PA): Carrer 1:53 800 meter runner and 6-8 high jumper.

 - Eric Allen, Jr, Bullis (MD): Career 6.46 55 meter sprinter, national semifinalist.

 - Top sprint relay teams: Bullis (MD), Newburgh Free, Western Branch (NC), Cardinal Hayes (NY).

This meet begins at 8:30 a.m. and is scheduled to continue through 8:30 p.m. The Marine Corps Holiday Classic will be broadcast live via RunnerSpace + Plus.
